ASR-9010-FAN Overview

This is the dedicated fan tray / cooling module for the Cisco ASR 9010 router chassis (part of the ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers). Its main job is to provide forced-air cooling within the chassis, drawing cool air from the front and exhausting heated air toward the rear, thus maintaining proper temperature for line cards, processors, power modules, and other internal components. In the ASR 9010 architecture, redundancy is critical. The chassis is designed to support two fan trays for redundancy. If one fan tray fails, the other can continue to carry the cooling load (with some performance headroom) so the system doesn’t overheat.
